Course Information

This course describes the preincident plan, its importance for both strategic and tactical incident management of the emergency scene, and the techniques for gathering pertinent data. It also discusses the purpose of preincident planning and identify the types of properties that require preincident plans. It also describes the steps involved in preincident planning, including conducting a preincident survey and making note of tactical information and occupancy considerations.

After completing this course, the fire fighter will be able to:
* Describe why and for which types of properties a preincident plan is created.
* List the typical target hazards that may be found in a community.
* Describe how a preincident survey is performed.
* List the information that is gathered during a preincident survey.
* Describe the information included in any sketches or drawings created during the preincident survey.
* Describe the symbols commonly used in preincident plans.
* Describe how preincident planning for safe and rapid response is performed.

What is external training?

Most vendors publish their online and classroom courses in a way that allows FirstForward to process enrollments. This includes purchase of online courses that can be assigned and completed on this website and student registrations that reserve seats in a particular class.

Some approved vendors are granted permission to also publish courses as external training. Such courses can be discovered on the FirstForward Marketplace, but all purchase, enrollment and tracking of course completion is managed on the vendor's remote website. External training will appear in the Marketplace like other training, but will link to the website where the purchase takes place.

Because course completion is tracked elsewhere, FirstForward will not be able to automatically include external training on your professional credentials. The student or the vendor providing the course will need to enter that completion manually.

Course License Options

The FirstForward Marketplace offers different licensing options available to course vendors. Each course may be offered for purchase under one or more of these license options:

A course purchased with a single-view license will be accessible only once. A member may restart or resume the course while in progress, but will no longer be able to view course material once the course is completed.

A course purchased with a one-year subscription license will be accessible for 365 days. A member may restart, resume or retake the course until one year after the purchase date.

Access to multiple courses can be purchased at once by subscribing to a vendor's online catalog. All courses included in the catalog are available to take on demand for one year, allowing you the freedom to choose which topics are most important and relevant to your profession. Your subscription will allow you access to new courses as they are published.
