The Laws of Combat are the behaviors we want to exhibit as leaders. The four Laws are (1) Cover and Move, (2) Simple, (3) Prioritize and Execute, and (4) Decentralized Command. These Laws are presented in order to help leaders understand the importance of each Law and how it fosters your ability to successfully implement the others. When you focus on building good relationships, you open up the line of communication to ensure alignment. That simple, clear, and concise communication is then used in conjunction with detachment to ensure you are setting the correct priorities and clearly communicating them with others. Those relationships, clear communication, setting of proper priorities, and an explanation of the why allows you to effectively decentralize command, and those four behaviors allow you to be most effective as a leader. In this module, Jocko and Leif explain all four Laws of Combat and how they apply to first responders using a combat example, detailed explanation of the principle, multiple examples of direct application to first responders, and role play demonstrations.
