The 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives were developed by major fire service constituencies in 2004 at a Firefighter Safety Summit in FL. NFFF was tasked with promoting the Initiatives throughout the fire service, and supporting their implementation. The Initiatives have informed safety culture in the US fire service, and become the foundation for thousands of fire and EMS departments to ensure that their firefighters and medics return home safely. Upon completion of this course the student will have a deeper understanding of each of the 16 initiatives and be able to implement them in his/her department.
