Searching the Marketplace

Course Information

This course discusses infection control, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, burns, and shock. It focuses on the importance of ensuring personal safety, the safety of other rescuers, the safety of victims, and safety of bystanders at the scene of emergency medical incidents. It also focuses on the concept of triage used at the scene of mass casualty incidents to provide the best treatment to large numbers of victims and learn how to respond to violent situations.

After completing this course, the fire fighter will be able to:
* Describe the steps needed to provide infection control.
* Describe the steps needed to secure a victim’s airway.
* Describe the steps needed to provide rescue breathing to a victim.
* Describe the steps needed to clear a victim’s airway.
* Describe the steps needed to administer oxygen.
* Describe the steps needed to use a pulse oximeter.
* Describe the steps needed to perform CPR.
* Describe the steps used to manage shock.
* Explain the steps needed to control external bleeding.
* Explain the steps needed to perform basic management of burns.
* Discuss triage at a mass-casualty incident.
