Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) refers to a spectrum of clinical presentations, ranging from angina to myocardial infarction. To minimize morbidity and mortality in these patients, EMS personnel must have a thorough understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, be familiar with the pathophysiology that produces the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, and keep current on the recent advances in the treatment of ACS. This course is designed for the advanced life support paramedic.
