Congratulations, you have been promoted to company officer now what? This course focuses on all those aspects not covered in any book or manual. Students will engage in leadership lessons from the firehouse and understand the difference between leading in the station and managing the fire ground and recognize why this leadership vs. management concept is so critical to the role of company officer. Students will learn about the necessity of documentation and discipline and how they must exist for success at the company and battalion level. Students will work through several atypical real-world scenarios that will engage the student and force them to think about their own actions. Students will discuss company training and why it is the foundation for company success. In the end the students will leave with lessons learned from experiences of other company officers and insight into how to be a successful and safe company officer.
