Searching the Marketplace

Courses in the FirstForward Marketplace may be found by entering simple keywords. These search terms are used to match against course titles, course descriptions, topic areas, class locations, and the name of the vendor providing the training.

You may further refine the keyword search by including special commands:

  • To match the beginning and end of a word, include * in the middle of a keyword as wildcard (e.g., crim*s)
  • To match a specific phrase, add double quotes (e.g., "in the field")
  • To require words, add + before the word or phrase (e.g., +enforcement)
  • To exclude words, add - before the word or phrase (e.g., -structure)

Except when an exact match is required, the Marketplace search will attempt to match similar words, including partial matches and some misspellings.

Course Information

The Training Methodologies course is a basic instructor methodology course that will prepare instructors to both develop training and to train in a variety of classroom and/or skills-based settings. It is a highly interactive, problem-based class that includes adult learning concepts; performance objective development; preparation of professional lesson plans; an introduction to instructional methods and guidance for choosing the best ones for the subject matter; appropriate use of visual aids; and presentation skills.

Students should come to the course mentally prepared to work with a group to develop and present an original presentation to the other participants, as well as several shorter individual presentations to smaller groups. The course is pass/fail and may include written assessments and work outside of the classroom. Students should bring a laptop computer to use when developing their training materials. Time does not allow for in-depth tutorials in each of the various forms of presentation media but instructors are available to provide individual help. Due to the hands-on nature of this course the instructor student ratio is maintained at or below 1-5.
